The Cantina del Pino 2022 Barbaresco is a generous, uniquely delicious, approachable expression of Nebbiolo, showing the darker fruit character and reliance on old vines in the 2022 vintage in an inviting, medium-rich style. The fruit comes from vineyards with east, southwest and west exposures, planted in silty calcareous marl soils that give the wine the foundation to allow the depth of a dry vintage to shine. With approximately 12,000 bottles produced, this is a lovely and versatile Barbaresco that offers a balance of present drinkable pleasure at the table and the possibility to nurture deeper and richer character with some time in the Cellar.

The wine opens with dark cherry richness, followed by a darker fruit profile that carries through the mid-palate. There is a pleasing plumpness and generosity here, giving the wine an accessibility that makes it easy to enjoy in its youth. Rather than austere precision, the 2022 favors a broader and more fruit driven character. The silty calcareous marl soils define underlying freshness to keep the wine balanced, while the dry growing season of the vintage lends it a rounder, delicious personality.

This is the Barbaresco to have on hand when you want something delicious and pure. Serve with roast chicken, pork, sausage, pasta with homemade meat sauce, mushrooms or a simple grilled steak. Plump fruit, broad structure and generous personality make it immediately appealing, while its classic Nebbiolo character keeps it firmly rooted in the Langhe tradition.
